Abstract

Social sciences, a specific product of cultural-historical nineteenth-century undertaking, revealed soon the new
discipline of Political Economy, which progressively outlined a cognitive field, producing the theoretical
foundations that not too late would stay constituted as the cornerstones of the recently raised structure of social
sciences. In this process of construction as a social science matrix, the categories of economic science gradually
widen their radius of action for expand their explanatory virtue into increasingly broader spheres of human reality.
This work, setting out from the premise above, aims to identify this process by which orthodox economic science
is built in the hegemonic paradigm; or rather, in a science that is able to export its methodology and theoretical
suppositions to the rest of the social sciences, thus becoming a kind of “sacred science” with an allencompassing
analytical capacity.
